Judaism in Defense: Too often, the Jewish story told to us focuses on survival—on avoiding the traumas of our past. Our approach has been a crisis-response and the fear of a past repeating itself. We've been running away from our past not toward our future.

But what is it about the present that we wish to preserve?

Why not simply blend in? Why go through all this effort and risk? What is this Jewish identity we are so keen on conserving?
